Artículos Definidos/Definite Articles

In spanish all nouns and adjectives are either FEMININE/FEMENINO or MASCULINE/MASCULINO and when they are used before the article THE it means they need to agree in GENDER (masculino or femenino) and NUMBER (singular and plural). There are not oficial rules to figure out the gender of the spanish words, BUT you can follow this formulas to help you guess their gender.

SUSTANTIVOS MASCULINOS SINGULARES (singular masculine nouns) use the definite article EL:
El perro, el gato, el niño, el beso, el baño, el marco, etc.

SUSTANTIVOS MASCULINOS PLURALES (plural masculine nouns) use the definite article LOS:
Los perros, los gatos, los niños, los besos, los baños, etc.

SUSTANTIVOS FEMENINOS SINGULARES (singular feminine nouns) use the definite article LA: 
La perra, la gata, la niña, la cara, la ventana, la bota, etc.

SUSTANTIVOS FEMENINOS PLURALES (plural feminine nouns) use the definite article LAS:
Las perras, las gatas, las niñas, las caras, las ventanas, etc.
